Accomplishments under President Mrs. Mary (John) Kellett Held the Houston Flower and Garden Show in May 1946 The World War II Memorial Garden in Hermann Park was built using these proceeds Garden Club members supported the Defense Program by using their horticulture knowledge to establish “Victory Gardens” The Federation was part of Houston’s Chamber of Commerce post-war beautification plan. War efforts included:

1947 - 1949

Accomplishments under Mrs. Mabel (W, H,) Benton Set up a calendar to track all activities and projects Hired a full-time, paid Director to run the Garden Center Started a gift shop that sold candles, cakes, cookies, and white elephant items Established a library
