1945 - 1947

Accomplishments under President Mrs. Mary (John) Kellett • Held the Houston Flower and Garden Show in May 1946, The World War II Memorial Garden in Hermann Park was built using these proceeds • Garden Club members supported the Defense Program by using their horticulture knowledge to establish “Victory Gardens” • The Federation was part of Houston’s Chamber of Commerce

1947 - 1949

Accomplishments under Mrs. Mabel (W, H,) Benton • Set up a calendar to track all activities and projects • Hired a full-time, paid Director to run the Garden Center • Started a gift shop that sold candles, cakes, cookies, and white elephant items

1949 - 1950

Accomplishments under President Mrs. Jean (J.L.) Webb • Theme: “Speak Your Message with Flowers” • First yearbook printed included University of Houston football schedule and advertisements ...
