HOUSTON FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS

Hello and welcome to my first article as the liaison between the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs and The Brookwood Community!  I will be bringing you news of ongoing activities, volunteer events, and plant sales.  In keeping with President Hydes’ theme of Going, Growing, Caring and Sharing:

Going:  Brookwood is a great place for field trips.  

Growing:  Brookwood has a wonderful nursery and the HFGC orders poinsettias from them every year. 

Caring:  By volunteering, we show our caring hearts.  

Sharing:  The Cafe is a great place to share a meal and the Gift Shop is  a wonderful place to buy items for family and friends.

Brookwood is a God-centered, non-profit residential and vocational community for adults with challenges, founded in 1983 and located in Brookshire.   Volunteers are needed in the Garden Center to support poinsettia sales, a large fundraiser for the Community.  

​

These dates are openings for clubs to volunteer to help sleeve Poinsettias at Brookwood in Brookshire.  As of Friday, November 7, they need:

Dec 1 - need 12 volunteers

Dec 10 - need 14 volunteers

Dec 11 - need 19 volunteers

Dec 14 - need   2 volunteers

Des 15 - need 10 volunteers

Dec 17 - need 4 volunteers     

Dec 18 - need 12 volunteers

Clubs have fun volunteering together and having lunch afterwards.  Shifts are from 8:30 am - 11:30 am and 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
